UW Student Houses
The way it works...
Print an application from the website. Have each person in your group complete the application - answering every question and being sure to put phone numbers for employers and your current landlord. If you are in the dorms, a fraternity or a sorority be sure to put down the name and phone number of the person that would give a reference. (floor manager, RA, etc.)
Have your entire group go through the open house – do it while the open house is going on, not later in the week and not a few in your group at a time.
You can leave your applications at the open house or give them to Margi or other M & L representative as quickly as possible. (first come, first serve basis) References are then checked.
After you are called and told “your group got the house” you will meet with Margi within a day to sign the lease and deposit an amount equal to 1 months rent to hold the house.
This deposit will go against your first months rent. (if your first months rent is prorated it will go against the rent and deposits) You should also choose a contact person to represent your group if you have a fall move in date.
If your group does not meet with Margi within 2 days, the next group in line will get the house.
The week before move in we will call the contact person and set up a time for your move-in meeting.
At the time of move in everyone (or their representative) is present to walk through the house and turn in balance of checks. Keys will be given out at that time.
